Swapping 3 degrees below zero, snow and winter sadness for 30 degrees, sunshine and sandy beaches? Sounded like a pretty good deal to us! So Peter and I quit our jobs in Vienna, Austria: No more photography for Peter and no more interviewing people on TV news for me – instead we turned our hobbies into a job at Ocean Watersport at Kuredu, Maldives. “Welcome to the Maldives!” was how our South African baseleader Derek welcomed us after the breathtaking seaplane flight to Kuredu. Unbelievable, but this already happened more than three months ago. Being here only this short period of time, we have already learned a lot. Most important thing: How to open a coconut! Besides, we completed our VDWS instructor courses for kitesurfing, windsurfing and catamaran sailing. Our super awesome team members Bishar, Kayya, Kambili and Rata trained us to become the best snorkel guides possible by teaching us everything about the local snorkel sites. Once I was even able to find 16 (!!) manta rays in one trip – an experience I will never forget in my life. Many guests ask where we come from and how we ended up on Kuredu – and overall they can’t believe that spending most of the time in these beautiful Maldivian waters is our job. Well, it is, and we love it – so visit us at Ocean Watersport and let us show you all the amazing things you can do in this island paradise!
